KCREGAP, and many greyhound rescue groups around the country, have periods where we have saved a number of older adult greyhounds. They come to us from many different sources, some for legitimate reasons; some because they have been breeding stock; and some come from shelters because people’s lifestyle‘s have changed, they have not considered their pets, and as the dogs become inconvenient, they have been dumped. All of these precious babies desperately need homes. They have many years of unconditional love to give families. Although it is reasonable to be concerned that you may not have them as long as a younger grey, there are never any guarantees. We have had two year olds die of unforeseen illnesses. These guys desperately need a chance. Another unfortunate side effect is that they take so much longer to place than a younger dog, our program cannot bring in those dogs that are ultimately being destroyed because our foster homes and kennel are full of mature greyhounds waiting to be chosen. The older dogs typically go into a home with very little transitional problems and settle in like they have been there all their lives and are eternally grateful for a soft spot to curl up on and share your love and affection! This sweet little girl is the queen of snuggling! She is quiet, ready to cuddle, is always the first in line for a scratch behind the ears and will let you pet her for hours. She's doing very well learning house rules in her foster home and she absolutely loves to run around the backyard. She would probably be happiest with a canine companion who will play with her as she's very playful! You'd never know she's almost seven years young.

Cinnamon is quite a character! She is playful and active. She’s never met a squeaky toy, a bouncing ball, or a person she didn’t like. Once Cinnamon’s had her fill of playing she folds up into a little dog ball and wants to be cuddled up next to you dreaming of the next great adventure she’ll share with you. Because of her enthusiastic play, Cinnamon should not share a home with cats. She is very social so she would need to have a backyard with a 5 or 6 ft fence so she won't visit the neighbors.
